KOTA KINABALU: The Sri Pasupathinathar Temple will conduct its fourth Mahakumbabishegam from 25 to 29 May 2026, marking a major 12-year consecration ceremony to renew the temple’s spiritual sanctity and bless devotees.
The temple, in Bukit Padang, was established in 1990 after decades of community effort, is recognised as Malaysia’s only Shanmatha temple, dedicated to the six classical traditions of Hindu worship.
The temple sits on a lakeside site and has long served as a cultural and religious landmark.
Its architectural and spiritual foundation was inspired by temple traditions in Baroda and Sridambel, India, and guided at inception by blessings from Jagatguru Shankaracharya of Kanchi.
The upcoming consecration will be led by Chief Priest Shiva Sri A. P. Muthukumara Sivacharya.
Rituals include the sanctification of kalasams (sacred finials), Vedic chanting, and the infusion of divine energy into the sanctum, followed by a 48-day mandalabishegam period of daily rites to stabilise the spiritual renewal.
Temple President Datuk Dr. K. Mathavan, on behalf of the management and organising committee, has extended an open invitation to devotees and the public to attend the auspicious occasion.
