KENINGAU: After almost a year of being cut off due to bridge damage, the reopening of the road to Kampung Tigot has now restored the lifeblood of communication for several villages that have been dependent on the road for daily activities, education, health and economy.
The road is not just an ordinary village road, but rather the main link between residents and Keningau town, hospitals, health clinics, schools and workplaces for government and private sector employees in the area.
For rural residents, the road is also an important access to bring agricultural produce to the market, thus helping to sustain their family’s source of income.

The chairman of the Kampung Tigot Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), Basilius Donald, said that the closure of the road since October last year has posed a great challenge to residents who have had to use alternative routes to continue their daily routines.
However, he said, the spirit of cooperation from various parties has finally allowed the bridge to be repaired and reopened for public use.
“The Kampung Tigot JKKK would like to express its highest appreciation and gratitude to all parties involved directly or indirectly in the effort to complete and reopen this bridge,” he said.
He also expressed his appreciation to the landlord who allowed the use of alternative routes during the bridge closure period to ensure that the villagers were not completely cut off from communication.
Special thanks were also given to the N.40 Bingkor Assemblyman, Dato’ Sr Mohd Ishak Ayub, the UPPM, District Office, Public Works Department (JKR), concession team, contractors, site workers and all villagers who were always patient and cooperative throughout the repair process.
He said that the reopening of the route not only made it easier for residents to travel daily, but also became an important symbol of the survival of rural communities who depend on the road network to move, work and continue their lives.
