Safety concerns delay reopening of bridge
The suspension bridge remains closed.
KENINGAU: Residents of Kampung Baginda Ulu will have to continue using alternative routes for the time being as the village suspension bridge remains closed pending further safety assessments, despite the scheduled maintenance period having officially ended.

The situation was confirmed following an inspection conducted recently by Tuarid Taud Mukim Developer Gerald Able, who visited the site to assess the condition of the bridge after the completion of maintenance works.

According to Gerald, the inspection revealed that additional evaluation is still required before the structure can be declared safe for public use.

“The safety of bridge users must always come first. Although the maintenance period has ended, the bridge cannot yet be reopened until the relevant authorities are fully satisfied that it is safe for residents to cross,” he said.
