“To finally have my first major exhibition in Sabah, surrounded by a community that understands and supports creative growth, is something am truly thankful for,” said Kendylife at the launch, which was attended by supporters, friends and family.
The Tenom-born artist and creative director, a graduate of Kian Kok Middle School Sabah, has built his profile well outside the state through showcases and collaborations across Peninsular Malaysia and internationally in Singapore, the Philippines, Australia and the United Kingdom.
The exhibition represents a deliberate homecoming, with Kendylife describing the occasion as both an act of gratitude and a commitment to giving back to the local creative community.
The exhibition spans the full breadth of his 20-year career, featuring early sketches and self-published zines alongside collaborative projects and refined visual narratives.
It aims to spark dialogue among Sabah-based creatives and inspire younger artists, with a broader vision centred on fostering collaboration, promoting education through art and encouraging entrepreneurship within the community.
Deputy Speaker Datuk Al Hambra Juhar officiated the launch ceremony.
“Lines That Became Stories” runs from May 1 to June 30 at Tinggi Tinggi Creative Hub, with opening hours from 10am to 6pm daily except Mondays and selected public holidays.
The exhibition is supported by Sakura Color Malaysia, Gsoft Malaysia, Kinmen Association Tenom Sabah, Life Water Berhad and several other community and media partners.
