KENINGAU: Five houses were destroyed in a fire at Kampung Apin-Apin here on Saturday.

The Fire and Rescue Department received the call at 7.06am and arrived at the scene at 7.30am, with operations brought under control at 8.02am and fully concluded at 12.10pm.

A total of five houses were burnt down completely, while a grocery shop was 50 per cent damaged and a semi-permanent house suffered 60 per cent damage, with no casualties reported.

Six vehicles comprising two cars and four motorcycles were also destroyed, while a team of 10 personnel from the Keningau station carried out firefighting using a 200-foot hose line with two nozzles, drawing water from a tanker and a nearby hydrant.
