Kota Kinabalu: A 41-year-old man was charged in the Traffic Court here on Wednesday with dangerous driving which caused the death of a motorcyclist in Penampang last year.
Madi Fuksin pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus to the charge under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Madi is accused of driving a Perodua Viva in a dangerous manner, causing the death of one Mohammad Taufik Voo.
The offence allegedly took place at 5.15am on August 28, 2025, at Km10 Jalan Papar–Kota Kinabalu, near the U-turn at Taman Bersatu Putatan, in Penampang.
The charge carries a jail term of between five and 10 years, and a fine of between RM20,000 and RM50,000, on conviction.
The court fixed June 4 for pre-trial case management and released the accused on bail of RM1,700 in one surety.
Traffic prosecuting officer Inspector Amrin Mohamad Arif appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was represented by counsel Datuk Ram Singh.
