SANDAKAN: A 31-year-old local was killed after his motorcycle collided with a car along Jalan Sungai Batang, Batu 10, Wednesday morning.
He was pronounced dead at the scene from severe injuries.
Sandakan District Police Chief ACP George Abd Rakman said initial investigations found the victim was travelling from Batu 8 towards Batu 12, while a Perodua Axia was coming from the opposite direction.
“The car is believed to have lost control before veering into the opposite lane and colliding with the motorcycle,” he said.
The victim died at the scene, while the car driver sustained chest injuries and is receiving treatment at Hospital Duchess of Kent (HDOK).
The body was taken to the hospital’s Forensic Unit for a post-mortem. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
