KOTA KINABALU: Nominated assemblywoman Grace Lee Li Mei urged greater focus on social inclusion, saying economic growth alone is not enough.
“We can build impressive structures and attract investment, but it means nothing if our social and family structures are weakening,” she said.
The Kota Kinabalu PKR Chief highlighted women’s unpaid “invisible labour” as a barrier to employment, calling for more childcare support.
“Millions of women remain constrained by invisible labour,” she said.
She also pushed for wider access to autism services beyond Kota Kinabalu and warned of a “silent crisis” in mental health.
“People don’t know where to turn except psychiatric hospitals,” Grace said.
She added youth policies should support purpose-driven work, not just profit.
