BEAUFORT: A Toyota Hilux lost control and crashed into four vehicles on the old Beaufort-Sipitang bridge on Sunday evening.
District police chief Supt Champin Piuh confirmed the incident, which occurred at about 6.50pm.
The crash involved five vehicles, namely a Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-Max, Perodua Viva, Toyota Vios and Perodua Aruz.
Initial investigations found that the Hilux driver is believed to have lost control while ascending the bridge before veering into the opposite lane.
The impact caused a chain collision involving the other vehicles.
Police said one of the drivers panicked and reversed, resulting in further contact with another vehicle.
The Hilux driver was taken to hospital for blood test.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
