KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is emerging as a key industrial growth region, driven by infrastructure expansion and major projects, says Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Jonnybone J. Kurum.
He noted rising demand for modern plumbing, drainage and engineering systems, signalling both market growth and new investment opportunities.
Speaking at the Plumbing Asia Conference and Expo 2026, Jonnybone reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a competitive industrial ecosystem and urged industry players to adopt advanced technologies and integrate into regional supply chains.
He said the event serves as a platform to boost collaboration, innovation and industry connectivity.
However, he acknowledged Sabah still lags in areas such as clean water supply, flood mitigation and water management, stressing that partnerships with international experts, particularly from China, are key to accelerating development.
