Kota Kinabalu: The Coroner’s Court here heard on Thursday that the methodology used to analyse 15 mobile phones in the Zara Qairina Mahathir case followed ISO 17025, an internationally recognised standard.
Computer Crime Investigation Unit analyst ASP Mohd Zaidi Abu Hassan said he applied the ISO 17025 Standard Operating Procedure as the guideline in analysing the digital evidence, namely the mobile phones.
He told the court he has practised the standard for three years within Polis Diraja Malaysia forensics and confirmed the methodology used is internationally recognised.
Mohd Zaidi, the 70th deponent, said he has served 19 years in the field, handled approximately 7,000 cases and previously testified in court, adding that he used XRY software to analyse the exhibits in this case.
He said the software, installed on a computer accessible only to him in his office, was used to extract data from mobile phones, SIM cards and memory cards, and that no one else assisted him in analysing the exhibits.
