Jordan, who is also Assistant Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, said the allocation followed a visit by Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister Jamawi Jaafar on Feb 7.
He said he had brought the Minister to inspect the dam, which had been out of operation for almost two years, to request funding.
Work began soon after the visit. Jordan added that he had made four visits to the Irrigation and Drainage Department to ensure approval of the project.
He expressed appreciation to the department as the implementing agency, as well as to the minister for taking prompt action.

He said farmers would not have been able to cultivate their paddy fields if the damaged dam had not been repaired.
Maintenance works are currently ongoing at the site.
