Kota Kinabalu: Young people here with an interest in studying medicine will soon be able to pursue their ambitions when the North Borneo University (NBU) is established at Parklane City, Benoni, and completed next year.
Its developer, WSG Group Managing Director Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen said NBU had confirmed plans to establish a medical faculty at Parklane City and would begin with a degree in nursing programme.

She said NBU would formally sign a tenancy agreement with her company this month.
“Construction of the university building is scheduled to commence in June this year, and the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027 or early 2028.
“Once NBU is operational, the development is expected to significantly boost residential demand in Parklane City, particularly in the student rental market,” she said.
Susan said this to reporters after a courtesy call by the Persatuan Guru Besar dan Penolong Kanan SJK(C) Papar, here, recently.

On another development, she said WSG Group is expected to raise property prices for new project launches amid rising construction and shipping costs due to the global crisis and the Middle East/West Asia conflict, while maintaining prices for ongoing developments, including Tower A of Parklane Residences Lifestyle Condominium.
“Although construction metal prices have increased by more than 10 per cent, projects that are already near completion, such as Tower A, will not see any price adjustment.
“For units that are already under construction and nearing completion, we will maintain the price as we have already made commitments,” she said.
WSG Group is proceeding full swing with the construction of Parklane Residences Lifestyle Condominium Tower A, maintaining prices while offering an attractive rebate.
“I am calling those wishing to invest in or purchase property to take advantage of a RM15,000 rebate when buying a three-bedroom unit at Tower A. Hurry, as this rebate is only valid until August 31 this year.
“Tower A has 215 units, including four penthouses; the 103 two-bedroom units have sold out, while 70 out of the 108 three-bedroom units are still available at prices starting from RM378,000.”
However, she indicated that new launches, including future phases such as Tower B, may see price increases depending on market conditions.
Earlier, Susan also extended her support by sponsoring the venue for the Papar Program Kempen Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Cina dan Bahasa Inggeris (KBMCI), which will be held at the Majestic Ballroom in Parklane City on June 13.
The programme will feature writing and speech competitions involving 162 pupils from nine Chinese primary schools in Papar.
Top winners will represent Papar at the state-level KBMCI competition on July 25.
