The carcass, which had sunk beneath the river, was accidentally hooked by one of the anglers before being retrieved from the water.
The anglers later brought the crocodile ashore and alerted Wildlife Department officers to inspect and take further action.
A resident, known as Ajim, said residents had previously lodged complaints with the department over frequent crocodile sightings near water villages.
He said the reptiles had long been present in Sungai Kota Klias and were believed to have been introduced during the British era to encourage breeding.

He added that the crocodile population has since increased and now poses a risk to residents.
In Weston, Village Development and Security Committee representative Sulaiman Saidin said a crocodile recently attempted to lunge at his child at their water house.
He said the reptile emerged from below as his child was entering the bathroom, prompting the child to flee in fear.
Another resident, known as Jai Tuah, reported sighting a crocodile measuring about 14 feet swimming in Sungai Weston at night and urged fishermen and anglers to remain cautious, especially near jetties.
