BAU: Police have arrested a 32-year-old local man suspected of damaging a Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) vehicle in an incident investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code.
District police chief ASP Mohd Haide A Rahman said the suspect was detained at about 3pm on Saturday by officers from the Bau District Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Division.
Police also seized a hammer modified with a black PVC pipe handle believed to have been used during the incident.
Preliminary investigations found the suspect allegedly smashed the window of the police vehicle in an attempt to get himself arrested, claiming he had experienced hallucinations for several years and believed he was being monitored by the police.
A urine test conducted by the Narcotics Division found the suspect negative for drugs, while further checks revealed he had no previous criminal record.
