BERLIN: Malaysian actress Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh paid tribute to her late father as she received a lifetime achievement honour at the opening of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival on Thursday.

According to South China Morning Post, the Oscar-winning star was presented with the festival’s Honorary Golden Bear and told the audience that a part of her remains that of the young girl who simply wanted to make her parents proud.

Yeoh became emotional when speaking of her father, saying he is no longer to see this moment but that she carries him with her through his discipline, steadiness and belief that if something is worth doing, it is worth doing well.

She added that if he could see her standing there holding the Golden Bear, he would smile, drawing a standing ovation from the audience.
