(pic), 30, from Kg Lungkidau-Paginatan, Ranau, will represent Malaysia at the Mister of the Globe 2026 pageant in Manila, from Feb 16 to 22.
Evanz, a caretaker at the Holy Family Residence in Purak Papar, participated in the Randawi Tavantang Kaamatan, a local pageant, in 2024.
The experience opened his eyes to Sabah’s rich diverse cultures.
“That pageant gave me a deeper awareness of Sabah’s cultural diversity. I believe it’s important to share our heritage with the world,” he said.
“Evanz is one of the strong representatives of Malaysia, bringing Sabah’s rich cultural diversity to the international stage. This is his chance to make full use of the platform and introduce Malaysia, especially Sabah, to other countries,” said local director Dr Erle Henry.
He said it was constant encouragement from his sister, Beathres, that persuaded him to become an advocate for Sabah’s culture through pageantry.
The event would see participants from 16 countries worldwide. The organizers have placed special emphasis on Children’s Rights and Protection, among other programmes.
During the preliminary competition, contestants would engage in charity work and city tours to gain deeper knowledge of the host country.
