KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition MP Ahmad Marzuk Shaary has called on the government to launch campaigns in schools and the media to warn that the LGBT lifestyle is immoral and against religious and legal teachings.
Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, he urged strict government action and inter-ministerial cooperation to raise public awareness through school syllabuses and media outreach.

His proposal follows remarks by Religious Affairs Minister Zulkifli Hasan, who cited work stress, social influence, and lack of religious practice as factors behind LGBT behaviour, noting that authorities arrested 135 people for LGBT activities from 2022 to 2025.
