KOTA KINABALU: The Coroner’s Court heard that a “privacy letter” was among several items belonging to Zara Qairina Mahathir that were received by a student through a third party, before and after the incident involving Zara.

According to counsel Shahlan Jufri, the child deponent testified she had received a keychain and several pieces of paper from one of Zara’s friends, who acted as the messenger. Some items were received before the incident, others after.

However, the deponent could not recall who gave her the letter marked as a private letter, nor whether it was received before or after the incident.

She said all the items were later placed in a white plastic bag and handed to Ustazah Syukriah for temporary safekeeping, but they were subsequently passed to the police before she could retrieve them.
