He noted that a total of 926 police personnel have been deployed to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the by-election.
The operation involves two police districts from Kinabatangan District Police Headquarters and Beluran District Police Headquarters but overall responsibility lies with the Kinabatangan District Police Chief.
Fisol explained that police preparations began on 10 January and have fully engaged personnel from the Kinabatangan district.
“So far, there have been no security or administrative issues raised. In terms of preparations, I see no problems.
“We urge all contesting political parties to continue complying with regulations, as was successfully done in previous state elections,” he said during a special meeting at the Sandakan District Police Headquarters Clubhouse on Friday.
Meanwhile, the police have issued 76 permits for campaign activities, with all applications processed in full cooperation with the participating parties.
The Kinabatangan and Lamag by-election is scheduled for Jan 24.
