Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor called on Community Development Leaders (PPMs) to assist the Government in conveying its achievements to the people in their respective areas.
He said many of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Government’s accomplishments have yet to be widely publicised, leaving the public unaware of progress made in key sectors.
“Your main task is to help explain government policies, programmes and successes to the people. There are many achievements we have delivered, from economic growth to infrastructure development, that need to be communicated,” he said.
Under the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development blueprint, Hajiji noted that Sabah’s economy has recovered post-Covid-19, with revenue increasing from RM4 billion to RM7 billion and state reserves rising to over RM8.6 billion.
He cited the Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (Sogip) as an example of investment success, noting that the area is fully occupied and that a recent RM31 billion investment from a Singapore-based company is expected to create 6,000 to 7,000 jobs.
Hajiji said the State Government will strengthen the implementation of the SMJ 2.0 Development Roadmap, set to be launched at the end of the month, to further advance economic growth, infrastructure and people’s well-being across Sabah.
He said infrastructure issues under federal responsibility, such as water and road maintenance, will continue to be raised with the Federal Government to ensure public interest is protected.
Congratulating the 45 newly sworn-in PPMs, Hajiji urged them to carry out their duties with integrity and commitment, acting as a bridge between the government and the people.
