KINABATANGAN: Developing Bukit Garam into a tourism hub is among the key agendas to be implemented if Barisan Nasional (BN) wins the Kinabatangan and Lamag by-elections.

BN’s Lamag candidate Mohd Ismail Ayob said Bukit Garam should be positioned as a tourism destination rather than merely a transit stop for visitors en route to other areas such as Tanjung Bulat and Lokan.

He said efforts would be made to encourage more homestay operators in Bukit Garam, alongside the establishment of a cultural centre to attract tourists to stay overnight.

“Bukit Garam has strong potential based on its unique culture, food, traditional attire and local customs, which can be developed into tourism attractions,” he said.
