SANDAKAN: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Lamag, Mohd Ismail Ayob, said outsiders have used the label “political frog” against him but insisted that voters would ultimately judge his track record.
Rather than rejecting it outright, Mohd Ismail, who is popularly known as Miha, offered an unconventional interpretation of the “frog” metaphor, suggesting it could symbolise someone who brings benefits to the community.
“If we look at it, during droughts, frogs are needed to call for rain. When the rain comes, it is a blessing for crops to grow, gardens to flourish and water supplies to be sufficient,” he told reporters after attending an event for parents at SK Bukit Garam 2, Monday.
He added that in this context, frogs are creatures that consistently make their voices heard without tiring in order to bring rain, unlike “frogs in a water jar” that serve no purpose.
