Kota Kinabalu: A 20-year-old reported missing during a recreational outing at Tun Fuad Stephen Park in Bukit Padang was found safe a day later some 35km away in Pekan Tuaran, Sunday.
It was not known how the victim travelled from Kota Kinabalu to Tuaran.
The Lintas Fire and Rescue Station received a report at 11.48am on Sunday from the victim’s uncle, who came to the station to report that his nephew had gone missing while the family was engaged in recreational activities at the park.
The family had been conducting recreational activities at 5.30pm on Saturday.
The victim went off on his own along the jogging trail area but failed to return to the gathering point by 6pm.
The family, assisted by members of the public and DBKK staff, conducted searches around the park but without success.
The police report, lodged at 12.23am on Sunday, noted that the victim suffered from a disorder and experienced sleep difficulties.
A team of nine firefighters from Lintas Fire and Rescue Station, led by Saflan Sapri, arrived at the location at noon and immediately started search and rescue operations.
At 2.14pm, the victim’s family reported receiving a video call from a member of the public informing them that the victim had been found safe in Pekan Tuaran.
