The arrests followed repeated incidents of cable theft in several areas of Tambunan, which had disrupted services and raised concern among residents.

When questioned by villagers, the suspects claimed they were from Kota Belud.

Information gathered indicated that the same suspects are believed to have been involved in earlier cable theft cases in the district.

A resident said villagers had often been blamed whenever cable theft occurred, despite the crimes being committed by outsiders.

“We hope all parties can work together to curb theft in this area. At the same time, residents should remain vigilant and keep watch over their homes and farms to stay safe from criminal activity,” he said.

Residents also called on the authorities to step up monitoring and enforcement to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
