KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister cum Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said an interim solution to ease congestion at Sepanggar Port will be tabled to the State Cabinet soon.
He said the stop-gap measures are necessary as long-term fixes, including the ongoing port expansion, will take time to complete.

To verify complaints firsthand, Ewon joined a prime mover from the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park to the port to collect a container for delivery to a customer, following repeated industry feedback.
The inspection found the complaints to be justified, with several contributing factors identified, notably operational efficiency issues requiring immediate attention, he said.
Ewon said congestion at the port is now his top priority at the Ministry because it directly affects supply chains, logistics costs and the competitiveness of Sabah’s industries, adding that stakeholder engagements will precede Cabinet approval of interim measures.
