‘Kinarut water incident a serious criminal matter’
Chin said the Kinarut incident should not be viewed in isolation, warning that similar acts of sabotage could potentially be occurring elsewhere in Sabah.
Kota Kinabalu: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Datuk Chin Su Phin said the prolonged water disruption affecting Kinarut must be treated as a serious criminal matter and investigated thoroughly by the authorities.

He said the findings by the Sabah Water Department’s investigation team, which revealed clear signs of human interference at two booster pump stations, were extremely alarming and could not be dismissed as a technical or operational issue.

“This is not a normal equipment failure. Water supply facilities are critical public infrastructure, and any deliberate attempt to disrupt them constitutes a serious criminal offence,” he said, Saturday.

Chin said he fully supported the stand of Federal Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, and stressed that the Government must look into the matter strictly and thoroughly.
