He said the move was necessary to enable coordinated action and informed decision-making in the event of unexpected developments, with updates to be obtained regularly through Mindet's permanent secretary.

Ewon said he will chair a post-Cabinet ministry meeting on Wednesday involving all relevant departments, agencies and GLCs to assess readiness levels, particularly in areas currently experiencing floods.
Speaking to reporters at the Kadamaian Christmas and New Year 2026 open house at Kadamaian Square here on Monday, he said two temporary evacuation centres have been opened in Kota Belud and Beaufort.
He added that flooding in Beaufort requires close attention due to potential safety risks to rail users, and said the State Railway Department has been asked to present detailed reports and mitigation measures, stressing that suspending services would be the right decision if rail routes are deemed unsafe.
