KOTA KINABALU: About 200 motorcyclists, mostly p-hailing riders, received free fuel and breakfast at the Shell petrol station in Kampung Air here on Tuesday morning.
The New Year outreach programme was organised by PKR Kota Kinabalu chief Grace Lee Li Mei and is expected to be conducted on a quarterly basis.

It was the second such initiative held since Independence Month.
The nominated assemblywoman said p-hailing riders play an important role in modern society despite facing daily risks on the road.
“P-hailing riders are the backbone of modern society. Their work is risky as they travel on two wheels and are exposed to the elements, rain or shine.
“They deliver food and make daily life more convenient for the public. Many of them do this full time, and this programme is our way of engaging with them and showing our appreciation,” Grace said.
She said rider safety was also emphasised during the programme, with lucky draw prizes offered, including a superior motorcycle helmet as the grand prize, as well as lubricants and food baskets.
Grace said the initiative aimed to ease the cost burden faced by riders while promoting road safety awareness.
