Kota Kinabalu: State gymnasts returned with one gold, one silver and six bronze medals at the National Gymnastic Championship held in Bukit Jalil from Dec 19-20.
The only gold medal was won by the men’s senior team comprising Addison Chang Sui Xin, Evan Emmanuel Walter, Lucas Immanuel Rijoh, Mohd Zaer Zabidi Harman, Tyler Jordan Lajanty and Leevan Savahi Moosom.
Addison also delivered the silver in the individual vault discipline in addition to two bronze medals in the floor exercise and individual all-round.
The other bronze medals came from Jewel Sinuau Jason Majalang and Rissy Sandrina Ridin in the women’s pre-junior individual all-round, Lucas Immanuel in the men’s senior individual all-round and the women’s senior team.
State head coach cum women’s coach Liew Tong Ee, who was also the technical delegate in the team said the state contingent was led by team manager Marilyn Bu Seong.
Judges in the team were Charlie Richie Chong, Brandon Denoley Luise, Winson Siau, Felicity Grace, A-Nor Suhada, Siti Noorsuhana and Nur Aqilah Nadhirah, while the other coaches were Abd Izzat Daniel Abd Rauf, Noorineh @Noraini Jamlan, Azri Omar and Mohd Zamri Din.
Liew also expressed his gratitude to Sabah Sports Council, Sabah Sports Board and the parents for their support.
