PAITAN: Sabah will expand Internet access to more schools next year, particularly in rural areas still without connectivity, said Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk James Ratib.
He said about 300 schools statewide have been equipped with Starlink satellite devices this year to ease online access, adding that no pupil should be left struggling to connect, whether at school or in their village.

James, who is also Sugut assemblyman, said satellite internet was equally vital for rural communities under the e-desa initiative, where access remains limited.
Speaking at an event in Paitan on Saturday, he said community celebrations across Sabah continue to strengthen harmony across races and religions, while reaffirming his commitment to lift Beluran, including Paitan, out of poverty within five years.
He also thanked voters for renewing their mandate in the recent Sabah state election and called for a collective effort to ensure Sugut and Paitan progress in step with current development.
