KOTA KINABALU: The Asnafpreneur Sabah Bank Rakyat-UMS 2.0 program aims to bridge gaps in capital, business knowledge, technology, and market access for Sabah’s asnaf entrepreneurs, strengthening community resilience and competitiveness.
Launched at Sabah International Convention Centre, the initiative is a collaboration between Bank Rakyat, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Majlis Ugama Islam Sabah (MUIS), and Perbadanan Baitulmal Negeri Sabah (PBNS).

Running from August 2025 to early 2026, it provides intensive training, ongoing mentorship, and business monitoring.
UMS Vice-Chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr. Kasim Mansor highlighted the program’s unique synergy of finance, academic expertise, and community networks, with Bank Rakyat providing funding, MUIS and PBNS ensuring targeted support, and UMS offering entrepreneurship and digital training.
Participants attended a five-day BIZUP Bootcamp in October covering business modeling, financial management, and AI-based digital marketing.
Each participant also received RM5,000 in business funding. The program continues with follow-up mentoring and monitoring until February 2026 to expand markets and boost the economic empowerment of Sabah’s asnaf community.
