PENAMPANG: Sabah’s indigenous groups or Orang Asal will always question their identity and belonging.
They will keep asking how do we keep languages alive? How do we ensure that cultural knowledge is passed from one generation to the next? How do children grow up knowing who they are and feeling proud of it?
Education Specialist and Lead of Unicef Malaysia Azlina Kamal said questions like these are where the metaphor of their dream becomes powerful.
“Indigenous communities have always held dreams for their children. The dreams are rooted in land, language, community and intergenerational wisdom. They are worried that their identity will be lost.
