KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bumi Kenyalang has criticised the Prime Minister for continuing to reject the recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC), calling it “political cowardice, racial posturing and intellectual laziness.”
In a statement, party president Voon Lee Shan said the refusal undermines Malaysia’s competitiveness, as Chinese is now a global economic asset.

He argued that recognising the UEC would not threaten Bahasa Melayu, which is constitutionally protected, but would enable Malaysian Chinese to access China’s markets and advanced knowledge in science, technology, medicine, and military strategy.
Voon also urged the government to support the study of Indian languages and history, warning that ignoring global trends risks economic stagnation and international irrelevance.
“Rejecting UEC will not protect Malaysia, it will condemn our youth to mediocrity.
"The Prime Minister must stop using racial rhetoric and recognise the UEC immediately, or be remembered as a leader who chose fear and division over the nation’s future," he said.
