KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Government has called on NGOs and welfare groups to shift toward evidence-based, collaborative programmes to improve impact and ensure long-term financial sustainability.
Permanent Secretary Datuk Maria Chong said many organisations still rely on limited traditional funding and struggle with trust and transparency, making it harder to secure support.

She urged NGOs to embrace data-driven planning, strategic partnerships, and youth volunteer development to improve effectiveness.
Chong highlighted active ageing, positive parenting, child protection and disability empowerment as priority areas needing joint action.
Some 120 participants joined the inaugural Social Services Networking Forum 2025.
