KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam has urged for more coordinated and effective infrastructure development in Sabah, stressing that people’s wellbeing must remain the ministry’s central focus.
Joachim, who is also Works and Utilities Minister, delivered the message during his first full briefing at the Ministry's headquarters on Tuesday.
He was received by Assistant Ministers Datuk Limus Jury and Datuk Seri Ruddy Awah, as well as senior officials including Permanent Secretary Datuk Ridhwan Roger Linus and department directors.
The departments briefed him on core responsibilities such as road improvements, public facility upgrades, and the planning and management of essential utilities, including electricity and water.
Joachim said stronger coordination was vital to ensuring infrastructure projects are implemented efficiently, adding that his appointment is expected to reinforce the ministry’s delivery and development drive across Sabah.
