Kota Kinabalu: The Persatuan Wanita Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Sabah (Pewanis) in Tuaran hopes to strengthen both Bahasa Malaysia and the English language among students in the district through its carnival called Highly Immersive Programme (HIP).

The HIP carnival is scheduled to be held at the Rasa Ria Resort in Tuaran on Dec 9, according to Tuaran District Education Officer Wanihim Othman after a courtesy call on the Chief Minister’s wife, Datin Seri Juliah Salag, here, Thursday.

Wanihim, who led the Pewanis Tuaran delegation, was accompanied by HIP Programme Coordinator, Dr Bitty Ansawi.

“HIP is the Education Ministry’s programme under the Malaysian Education Development Plan. It is one of our efforts to dignify Bahasa Malaysia and strengthen the English language for students, especially in Tuaran,” said Wanihim.

Wanihim said the courtesy call was aimed at inviting the Chief Minister’s wife to officiate the closing of the carnival organised by the Tuaran District Pewanis.

“Various activities will be held during this carnival which also involves students, teachers, community and parents,” she said

Meanwhile, Dr Bitty hoped that the programme would not only help increase the use of the English language among students but also the various activities implemented during the carnival could be utilised by students during school holidays.
