Tuaran: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Tuaran branch seized a total of 1.12 tonnes of coarse sugar in a raid on a shop in Ranau last Saturday.
Its District Enforcement Chief Saripudin Moleng said the premise owner, in his 40s, failed to produce a valid licence and a permit from the Malaysian Supply Controller for the sale of controlled goods.

“An inspection found the individual was involved in selling coarse granulated sugar weighing 1.12 tonnes stored in his premises.
“The estimated value of the seizure is RM3,192. KPDNHEP is conducting further investigations and has recorded a preliminary statement from the shop owner.
“Stern action will be taken against any trader who does not have a valid licence to sell controlled goods or sell such items above the set ceiling price,” Saripudin said.
If convicted, he said, an individual could be fined up to RM1 million or jailed a maximum of three years, or both.
He advised customers to continue channelling information or complaints through its hotline 1-800-886-800 or e-complaint at http://e-aduan.kpdnhep.gov.my or at any nearby KPDNHEP office.
