SANDAKAN: A total of 347 residents of Kampung Sungai Batang, Batu 10, received Native Residential Reserve Land Lot Permits during a presentation ceremony held at the Sandakan Native Court, recently.

The permits were presented by Sungai Manila Assemblyman Datuk Hazem Mubarak Musa to eligible recipients as part of efforts to strengthen land ownership rights and settlement security for the Native community in the area.

In his speech, Hazem said the State Government remains committed to safeguarding the people’s welfare through more organised, systematic and effective land management, particularly involving local communities.

He said the issuance of the permits marked an important step in providing assurance to eligible residents that they could legally own residential land and benefit from development initiatives planned by the government.

“The issuance of these residential reserve land permits reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to safeguard the welfare of the people, particularly the Native community, while ensuring that community development can be implemented in a sustainable and well-planned manner,” he said.

Hazem expressed hope that the permits would provide peace of mind to the recipients while creating greater opportunities for socio-economic development and improving the well-being of local residents.
