PENAMPANG: PBS leaders have urged members to remain united and strengthen the party's grassroots machinery as preparations intensify for the coming State Election.
Speaking at the joint 41st annual general meeting of the PBS Kapayan and Moyog divisions, Kapayan division chief Augustin Anthony said the party must move beyond past weaknesses and adapt to changing political realities while remaining true to its principles.
He said PBS should continue defending the seats it has built over the years despite welcoming Upko's entry into GRS, adding that success in elections depends on strong grassroots support and continuous engagement with the people.
Acting PBS president Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam called on members to stop blaming the leadership and instead focus on serving the rakyat, saying the party's future depended on unity and the development of a new generation of leaders.
He also stressed the importance of cooperation within GRS, saying no single local party could govern Sabah on its own, while Moyog division chief Datuk John Masabal proposed Dr Joachim as the party's new president during the meeting.
