Tuaran MP and Tamparuli Assemblyman Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau
TAMPARULI: The Village Chief (KK), Chinese Community Leader (KMC), and Urban Community Committee (JKDB) positions throughout the Tamparuli constituency have been officially dissolved to pave way for election of new leaders.

Tuaran MP and Tamparuli Assemblyman Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau said the decision was made as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots administration and community leadership in the constituency.

He said his office, together with the Tamparuli District Office, is committed to conducting elections for the positions across the constituency in the near future.

“The selection process will be carried out in a transparent, orderly and accountable manner to ensure those elected genuinely enjoy the confidence and support of the local community.

“This initiative is in line with the principles of grassroots democracy and good governance, while giving villagers the opportunity to choose their own community leaders,” he said on Friday.

Madius said village-level leaders play a vital role in serving as a bridge between the people and the government, conveying information, resolving local issues and assisting in the implementation of community development programmes.

He said the election process would require the cooperation and active participation of all stakeholders to ensure it proceeds smoothly and achieves its intended objectives.

Madius added that nomination forms and special voting forms would be issued by the secretariat soon to facilitate the nomination and voting process, with the election schedule to be announced later.

He urged all eligible residents in the Tamparuli constituency to participate in the process and fulfill their responsibilities as voters.

“Public participation is essential to ensure that those elected are not only capable and possess integrity, but are also able to serve the community effectively for the progress of their villages and the well-being of residents,” he said.

He hoped that the elections would produce a more dynamic and progressive line-up of community leaders capable of working closely with government agencies to plan and implement development initiatives for the benefit of the people in Tamparuli.
