SEMPORNA: Police arrested two foreigners suspected involved in drug activities following an operation at a plantation in Kg Kalumpang, here, Wednesday.
District Police Chief, Supt Tan Hiap Wah said the first suspect was detained inside a hut in the plantation area. The inspection on the 20-year-old man found 25 packets containing substances believed to be syabu hidden inside a food container.
“All the seizures weighing 7.60 grammes, estimated worth RM750. The suspect was detained for investigation under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952,” he said.
According to Tan, a 50-year-old foreigner was detained on the same day at different location inside the plantation.
He said inspection on the suspect’s backpack found a translucent packet containing substances believed to be syabu weighing 4.41 grammes worth RM450.
Tan said the second suspect was detained under Section 12(3) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952. Both suspects were taken to Semporna Police Headquarters for further investigation and action.
In the meantime, Tan said police would not compromise against any individual involved in drug trafficking and drug abuse activities.
He added that police would intensify operations and enforcement action to curb drug activities.
