A heartwarming orangutan story is highlighting the bond between Indonesia and Japan through a conservation programme involving two orangutans.

According to Jakarta Globe, the story centres on Jennifer, a female Bornean orangutan from Indonesia, and Hayato, a male orangutan born in Japan.

The pair were introduced as part of efforts to support orangutan conservation while strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

The programme aims to raise awareness on the protection of the endangered Bornean orangutan species and the importance of conservation efforts.
