KUNAK: The Kunak District Council (MDKNK) has set a monthly rental rate of just RM45 for each MyKiosk unit as part of an initiative to help small traders, hawkers and micro-entrepreneurs cope with rising living costs and business operating expenses.
Kunak District Council Executive Officer Mohd Nazri Pintal said the RM45 monthly rental comprises a licence fee of RM15 and kiosk rental of RM30 for those operating businesses through the MyKiosk programme.

He said 25 kiosks are currently operational, while five others have been damaged.
“The damaged kiosks are currently undergoing repairs and will be made available for occupancy once the repair works are completed,” he told Daily Express.
The MyKiosk facility is a Federal Government initiative under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) aimed at empowering micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through the provision of comfortable and organised business stalls equipped with solar panels.
Nazri said the kiosks are located at several sites, including the Wednesday Market area near the Kunak General Market, the concrete square near the Kunak Town futsal court, Kunak Public Park, the open space near the Sedco building and several villages.
The operating hours of the MyKiosks depend on the nature of the businesses conducted by tenants.
“Some traders operate during the day, while others operate at night,” he said.
