KUNAK: The Majlis Daerah Kunak (MDKNK) is still awaiting approval for an earlier proposal to expand the parking area along the waterfront near Kg Pangkalan Jetty to help ease traffic congestion once the upgrading works of the fish landing jetty beside the wet market are completed.
Its Executive Officer Mohd Nazri Pintal said that upgrading works on the fish landing jetty are currently ongoing, while unloading operations for seafood catches by fishing boats and vessels can still be carried out in the available space at the site.
“At the same time, the council is still waiting for approval for the proposal to enlarge the parking area there, including reclaiming the open coastal area near the main road leading to Pangkalan,” he told the Daily Express, recently.
