RMAF Hornet makes emergency landing at KKIA

Kota Kinabalu: The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) confirmed that an F/A-18D Hornet aircraft experienced engine problems while returning from a night air-to-ground firing exercise in Kota Belud on May 19.

The pilot carried out the prescribed emergency procedures during the incident and decided to land at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) as a safety measure.

The aircraft landed safely at 7.47pm.

Following the incident, the RMAF deployed a technical team to KKIA to conduct inspections and provide technical assistance on the aircraft.
