He said these efforts are carried out to ensure that healthcare delivery runs in a more organised, smooth and responsive manner, in line with current needs.
“Every staff member plays a vital role in ensuring that patients receive the best treatment and care.
“Through teamwork, good communication and the commitment of all hospital staff, we will continue to strive to raise the quality of our services for the wellbeing of the community,” he said at the Monthly Assembly, in conjunction with the QEH-level Nurses’ Day Celebration 2026, at the QEH auditorium, Thursday.
Dr Abd Kahar also expressed appreciation to all nursing staff for their dedication and sacrifices in providing the best care and service to patients.
He said the nursing profession is one of the main pillars of the healthcare system and consistently plays a major role in ensuring that the welfare and safety of patients are always safeguarded.
This year’s International Nurses’ Day 2026 celebration carries the theme “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives”, as a tribute to the role and contribution of the nursing profession within the country’s healthcare system.
Also present were Deputy Director of Clinical I Dr Marcus Netto, Deputy Director of Management Jackson Taguah, Deputy Director of Clinical II Dr Irene Chau, as well as heads of departments and units from QEH.
