Kota Kinabalu: Consistent and disciplined savings with Lembaga Tabung Haji from an early stage have been among the key factors enabling Sabah pilgrims to be chosen as “Guests of Allah” for this year’s haj season.

State Governor Tun Musa Aman said the pilgrims’ departure this year was not merely a physical journey, but a great blessing that reflected their strong commitment and extraordinary perseverance in planning their financial future.

He said the practice of saving consistently not only demonstrated prudent financial planning, but also proved that with patience, planning and continuous effort, a person could fulfil the requirements to perform the haj pilgrimage.

“I believe this also reflects the determination, patience and exceptional perseverance of the prospective pilgrims who began saving many years ago with discipline and istiqamah through Tabung Haji in pursuit of their dream to set foot in the Holy Land,” he said in his message at the Send-Off Ceremony for Sabah Haj Pilgrims at Sabah International Convention Centre, on Monday.

He said the ability to manage finances carefully through TH demonstrated that long-term planning could turn the dream of fulfilling the fifth pillar of Islam into a reality.

For this haj season, a total of 1,195 prospective pilgrims from Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan, including 142 pilgrims, are scheduled to depart for the Holy Land via the Makkah Route initiative.

Musa also reminded pilgrims to uphold good conduct, maintain discipline and monitor their health throughout their time in the Holy Land so that they could perform their religious obligations smoothly, while also praying for the continued peace, prosperity and wellbeing of Sabah and Malaysia.

The send-off ceremony for the pilgrims was officiated by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman.

In his message, Musa expressed gratitude and hoped the pilgrims would make full use of the opportunity as guests of Allah by increasing their acts of worship, maintaining discipline and upholding the good name of the country throughout their stay in the Holy Land.

For the 1447H/2026M haj season, Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan recorded a total of 1,195 haj pilgrims, comprising 507 men and 688 women.
