Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government has welcomed Japan’s continued support for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) following the contribution of a wheelchair-accessible Toyota Hiace van to Sabah Cheshire Home and Services in Sandakan.
Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk Julita Majungki said the vehicle was contributed under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).

She said the van would improve mobility and accessibility for beneficiaries at the home.
According to Julita, the vehicle would help PWDs access healthcare services, rehabilitation programmes, education and community activities more safely and comfortably.
She added that the facility’s previous van was over 25 years old and urgently needed replacement.
“This contribution is not merely about transportation, but about dignity, independence, and ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to participate fully in society,” she said during the official handover ceremony at Sabah Cheshire Home and Services here on Thursday.
