KUALA LUMPUR: The ASEAN Hospital-at-Home Conference 2026 highlighted home-based acute care as a solution to overcrowded hospitals and rising healthcare demand.

UMMC director Prof Dr Mohd Zukiflee Abu Bakar said healthcare can no longer rely on expanding infrastructure alone, while organisers described the model as a “paradigm shift” to optimise resources and improve patient care.

Sabah-based Blue Swan Home Care also shared its experience, with founder John Cham stressing the need for alternative care pathways as Malaysia faces an ageing population.
